In plain words
Every Person Must Have Devotion to the Country Too
Students! You are very good indeed. Only such good children have come in here. Faith in the Ātma is set within you. But we must also make faith in the country grow. Rāma said, ‘Mother and motherland are greater even than heaven.’ So without faith in such a country, there is no use at all in our being here. However important your faith is to you, faith in this country must be just as important. The country rests on the body. The body rests on the country. Body and country are nothing but object and reflection. The body cannot exist apart from the country. That is why we must keep the sanctity of the country in view too. Whatever we do, we must strive for the good of the country. First, man must develop personal qualities. Second, we must develop the good of society. Third, we must recognise the principle of the universe. That is why we must recognise this truth: that man was born to attain the full growth of these three. That is the very reason I keep explaining these three clearly. SAI. S means Spiritual Norm. A means Associational Transformation. I is the growth of the Individual. Only when this Spiritual is foremost will Association be foremost. Only when that is sound will the Individual too act free from danger. First of all, we must nourish our strength. If we want to make this individuality worthwhile, we must live our life with discipline. So divinity keeps arising out of individuality itself. So you must not hold the feeling, ‘I am one alone, one alone.’ I am a member of society. Without society, of what use is my membership? So you must keep society in view too. Only when that is missing do we fall into troubles of every kind.
The Educated Must Work for the Welfare of Society
Students! Along with yourselves, you must make the effort needed to develop your community, your society, your village, your town and your region in the proper way.
