In plain words
So go at once and bring that masala dosa,” it begs. Is he to listen to the word of this one, or the word of that one? The mind is falling into great disgust because of desires of this kind. You know this. Daśaratha had three wives. Because he had these three wives, what state did he fall into? In the very end he lost his life itself. He sent his eldest son Rāmacandra to live in the forest. On his beloved wife Kaikeyī fell a disgrace that can never be wiped away. With just three wives there is this much distress. Uttānapāda had two wives. Because he had two wives, he sent his virtuous son to the forest. That son was Dhruva. When there are so many troubles with just two or three, what happiness will you get with a mind that has ten wives? So less luggage, more comfort; make travel a pleasure. You must keep reducing your desires to some extent. This is the easy way to happiness. The reason such troubles, losses, sorrows and griefs pursue the man of today is just that boundless desires have grown. Some leaders too are doing wrong. In the world today, think of political leaders, think of the educated. Think of atheist leaders, think of theist leaders, think of leaders both theist and atheist, think of any you like. These people are not showing the right path. In every field, moral, physical, spiritual and worldly, leaders are following only the wrong method. At the very beginning I spoke of it. The 4 F's. 1st F - follow the master. Who is your master? Your conscience is your master. So follow the master, face the devil, fight to the end, finish the game. If you learn these four well, you can achieve anything. So first of all follow your conscience. That itself is your guru. Before doing any work you must think, “Is it right or wrong? Is it good or bad?” Take time and discriminate. This power of discrimination man alone has; the animals do not. That is why it was said, ‘jantūnāṃ narajanma durlabham’. Human birth is very hard to attain. Only when you enquire and then do the work will you get on well to any extent.
