In plain words
When all the children are present, I should not teach too much in this matter of money. But I may tell you words and things fitting to the point. The whole world is bound up with money. It is not good to explain how it is bound up with this money in this way and that. It is a very secret matter. As far as possible, no harm must come in any way to the government, to the people, to society or to the country. Rights and wrongs keep happening in everyone. Man cannot live without wrong and right. Because it is only when wrongs happen that we come to know what is right. So each of you must reflect within yourselves, individually, and keep searching for the right way through pleasure and pain. The pleasure is an interval between two pains. Joy is found only between two pains. You cannot have happiness without pains. You went to the market and bought two oranges. I bought the oranges myself, paying 10 rupees. These 10 rupees are mine. “I may eat them, or I may share them with someone. I have the freedom,” you say. But though you paid 10 rupees and bought the oranges, you cannot help throwing away the outer rind. Throw away what is of no use. Take what is of use. Because this useless outer rind was there, it kept protecting the useful juice. So the useless has protected the useful. Without darkness, light has no value. Darkness gives value to light. It is through bad alone that good has value. The wicked path protects the good path. So, as it is said, “Sukhaduḥkhe same kṛtvā lābhālābhau jayājayau,” both must surely be there. If you hope to be without them, it is of no use. You, however, enter only into the good.
