In plain words
Today foreigners are reading the Bhāgavata, they are reading the Bhagavad Gītā. They learn it by heart, but that is only art, not heart. Art is outside, heart is inside. Art should come from heart. Whatever you read, you must read it with heart, not with Art.
You Must Not Waste Money
What those who have come to this conference say comes from experience; so, hoping that you will keep the words of the elders who have come safe in your hearts and put them into practice, and blessing you, I bring My discourse to a close. Only, do not waste money. Because it is money itself that protects the sacredness of the country. If later, when you have passed, you wish to do some business, first of all make a master plan. If you wish to start a business with 5 lakhs, take a loan of only 6 lakhs from small scale industries. Start with 5 lakhs. Keep one lakh in hand. At first there will be some troubles and losses. Then you can adjust it. You must engage labour to suit this. You know this. In Indonesia and South Korea they sent all the labours home at one stroke. Then everything was thrown into turmoil. But in Indonesia there is a businessman who has moral quality. It is not that I say he is a devotee of Swami. He comes to Puttaparthi many times. But he did not give up his business. Saying, “Even if it is a loss, it does not matter: I shall sell my jewels and my house and give the labour their wages,” he gave them. He went on paying according to the scale. He faced the hardships. He sent no one out of his job. Today he has come to win a great name. It is not good to take on many labourers when you need them and then remove them at once. You must enquire at the very start and see, “How many are needed, how many can I bear, for how many is there work here?” You must choose only as many as are needed. If there are too many, the work grows less. Salaries grow too large. I tell you from time to time. “Talk less work more.” In this way you must engage as many people as are needed and get the work done.
