In plain words
'I have Bhakti, but You have no power,' he said. Then he sat for some time in dhyāna. Chī! How unfortunate I am. How wicked I am: do I know that there is Bhakti in me? Do I know that there is no power in You? A great mistake. 'Swami, forgive me,' he said. Rāma! Who can ever recognise Your power.
Would a monkey cross the sea! Would a lady tie You to a mortar! Would Lakṣmaṇa serve You? Would Goddess Lakṣmī love You? Would Bharata, of subtle mind, gaze and gaze and bow down to You? Ah, how great Rāma's power is!
Your power is very great, Swami! I became small and thought Your power small. 'Forgive me,' he said. The moment he had offered himself to God, two people came. As the light comes the moment you turn on the switch, the moment you purify your heart and offer it to God, God comes at once. He does not delay even a moment. He does not delay even a second. Two came. They came carrying bundles. They went to Tānīṣā. 'Sir, we are returning your money to you,' they said. 'Who sent you?' asked Tānīṣā. Rāmadāsu sent us. 'Where did Rāmadāsu get so much money? Who are you?' Tānīṣā asked.
The two of them answered. 'We are Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; Rāmadāsu sent us and we came,' they said. You see! Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa became Rāmadāsu's servants. God becomes the servant of His devotees. But devotees are unable to recognise such divinity. In the same way devotees have gone on setting an example. From time to time all kinds of obstacles arise. People keep arguing in many ways. They keep tormenting. They keep mocking. But there is no loss at all. Whatever anyone does, its fruit comes back to them alone.
