In plain words

Young women and young men!

Your life is a very long journey you have to make. It is like a train: less luggage, more comfort; make travel a pleasure. Desires are the luggage. Reduce them little by little. How long are desires to go on? What fruit do we get from these desires? Nothing comes of them. You cannot recognise the real truth that lies in humanness. Whatever country people are born in, they are that country's children. What has our body come for? Has it come only to eat, to drink, to sleep and to enjoy comforts? No, no. The best way to love God is to love all and serve all. We must love everyone. We must serve everyone. Service is our chief duty. To serve our fellow men, to make our fellow men happy, to give our fellow men comfort: that alone is our duty. So first of all we must begin with service. Only when we set out on this journey of service does humanness find its fulfilment. Highest form of sadhana is to transform love into service. What does this service come from? It comes from Bhakti. That is the true Bhakti. The greatness there is in this service is found nowhere else. A boy said, ‘Illnesses keep coming to the body. Many kinds of illnesses keep coming.’ But the doctors make the right efforts to cure them. Not by the doctors alone: there must be God's grace. Without God's grace, how many kings have lost their bodies! It is no great thing for us to protect the body. We must protect good morals, we must protect honesty. We must develop a life of Satya. We must develop the principle of Prema. There is love in the young people of today. What kind of love? Artificial love. Hello! Hello! Inside, all hollow. However long one lives such lives, they turn into picture lives. We must bend our backs, work, and take part in service. In just such service we can shape humanness into Godhood and change this humanness into Godhood. He does not even understand what humanness is. That being so, how can he recognise divinity? First of all recognise your own humanness. Humanness is full of meaning. Humanness is joined with divinity. This very divinity is what takes shape as Godhood. Humanness is not one thing and Godhood another. All is one. Truth is one; the wise speak of it in many ways. So when we recognise this humanness, we can easily make our life fruitful. The divine principle in man is found in no object and in no power. The whole world is just one great magnetic power. Every object that has come forth from that Prakṛti is magnetic power. From man's head to his feet, divine power alone flows. But man, unable to recognise this truth, enters these mad paths of japa, tapas and yoga and spoils his own divinity.

Prema is what matters most. Without Prema, whatever sādhanas you do are of no use. Whatever you say with Prema becomes Satya itself. Whatever work you do with Prema becomes Dharma. So Satya and Dharma are not in us as separate things. They are merged in Prema itself. So first of all we must foster the principle of Prema. Hatred, jealousy, showiness: all these are the marks of beasts. It is through the very food man eats that desire, anger, greed, pride and envy take shape. These six evil qualities are only of man's own making. When these bad qualities enter, he loses his humanness and forgets the divine principle. So every human being must foster divine qualities. We must develop these four qualities God has granted: mati, gati, sthiti and sampatti. Sampada does not mean worldly wealth. The wealth of the power of the senses is the true wealth. We must nourish this power well. Once we lose the power of the senses, we become people who have lost everything.
