Passage 10

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

So you must develop selfless Prema. You must love everyone. Whatever anyone may think, you need not be afraid. Keep your Prema pure; that is enough. Then the whole world will become pure.

Prema alone is the one path to world peace

Many people have many kinds of misgivings about what result this year 2000 will bring. There will be no troubles. They keep coming. They keep going. The world cannot exist without happiness and sorrow. But nothing is bad for the world. The interval between two troubles is itself happiness. So happiness cannot be had without troubles. Yet all of them come and go like passing clouds. You need not fear them. You must face them with Prema, turn them into Prema; you must become embodiments of Prema. Only then will world peace come about. Why do you say “Śānti śśānti śśāntiḥ” three times? Peace of the body, peace of the mind, peace of the Ātma: these three are needed. That is why you are not one but three. You as you see yourself (the body), you as others see you (the mind), the real you (the Ātma). In all three of these you need peace. For this, Prema alone is the path.

With Prema alone you can achieve everything. I Myself am the proof of this. What is in Me is Prema alone. Today so many thousands have gathered here. Who sent all of you an invitation? None at all. My Prema for you and your Prema for Me: the oneness of these two is the root cause of this gathering. So recognise the truth that anything can be achieved by Prema, and act on it. Develop Prema. Cut away bad qualities such as hatred, envy and ostentation. They are animal traits, not human qualities. For man, Satya is the very support, Dharma is the very life, and Prema is the foremost thing. If you develop these three, Śānti will become your birthright. So push selfishness far away, long for unity, and pray for the welfare of all.
