About thirty years ago, (a great devotee of , who served as the Chief Minister of , and later as the Governor of and as well), compelled to go to the holy city of , where Lord is the presiding Deity. At the temple, was received in the traditional style with full honours, and was conducted into the sanctum sanctorum, where the idol of the deity is installed. Mr. was the Chief Executive Officer of the temple at that time. told , "Why do you disfigure this beautiful idol with so many decorations and ornaments? If the jewellery is removed, the Lord would look far more majestic." added, ", I too do not like all this decorations but then, people always do such things for their own pleasure. " then remarked, "It is better to leave the idol in its natural form." listened to all this but was unable to do anything. Decoration of the idol is not the proper way to see beauty in God and experience joy.
