In plain words
Learning is the rising of pure feeling; study is the rising of gentle virtues; equality is the fostering of affection; to be human is to have good conduct.
Embodiments of Prema! Jumsai (Thailand) spoke in his talk about Education and Human Values. What, after all, is education? What are human values? Teaching students what is in books, and students reading the books and gaining degrees... This is called education. This is called Bookish knowledge. It can also be called superficial Knowledge. It is merely external. All the students of today are pursuing just this kind of education. Human values, Educare, means drawing out from within us. In every human being the human values of Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā lie hidden. They are not things to be had from outside; they are things that emerge from within. Simply because man forgets these sacred qualities hidden within himself, he is unable to draw them out. What does drawing them out mean? It is simply putting them into practice.
The Veda gave man's life-force the name ‘Satya’. Without Satya, man does not exist at all. For every human being born on this earth, Satya is God made manifest. The great sages of that age researched this power of Satya, examined it closely, and realised it. They recognised that the Satya in all human beings is one. On this very basis they said, “Satya itself is God.”
