Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

In the same way God has no form. You yourselves give a form to such a formless principle, and imagine it in many ways. Divinity has no attribute of any kind, no form at all. That is why they described divinity as “nirguṇaṃ, nirañjanaṃ, sanātanaṃ, niketanaṃ, nitya, śuddha, buddha, mukta, nirmalasvarūpiṇaṃ”. But for your satisfaction divinity has to have a shape. That is why divinity takes the form of an Avatāra from time to time.

Whomever you serve, think of it as service to God. For “Īśvara ssarva bhūtānāṃ”: God is in all beings. The unseen God Himself comes before you as the jīva you see. That is beyond sight; this is before your eyes. That is the original; this is the reflection. So what exists is one alone; there are not two at all. But what is seen appears that way. On a cinema screen it looks as though an earthquake has come. But does the screen shake at all? No. On that very screen it looks as though rivers are in flood. But if you touch the screen, is it wet at all? No. In the same way everything appears to the outer sight, but to Illumination Mind none of these appears. To reach that level, you must love everyone. Then you see multiplicity in unity, and unity in multiplicity.

The Goal of All Sādhanas: Over Mind

Embodiments of Prema! There is Prema in all. That Prema itself is God. That is why Kṛṣṇa said, “All are parts of Me.” Because bodies are separate, difference appears; but all are one. So let go of body-consciousness and see everyone as equal. Feel, “All are nothing but my reflections.” Only then do you reach Illumination Mind. In Super Mind there is the dual feeling, ‘I am separate, he is separate’. Step by step you enter Illumination Mind. There, after recognising complete oneness, you reach Over Mind. That alone is your goal. All these sādhanas are only to reach it.

But sādhanas done with the body come under exercise only; they cannot be true sādhanas. Exercise builds strength of body, but it does not bring purity of mind. What we need is purity of mind.
