In plain words

To have the spirit of sacrifice is a great good fortune

Many of you may know about Dr. Rajeswari, who started this hospital, but those who have newly joined here may not. She was the mother of C. Srinivas (Central Trust Member). The education she had was of a very high order. She had worked in many countries, America, Japan, Germany and others, and gained wide experience. She first started this hospital in one small room. Opening a new department every year, she shaped it step by step into this great building. It is a small hospital in name only, but every kind of medical facility is to be had in it. Then how can it be a small hospital? It is not. It is a big one indeed! In size it is small, but in service it is very great. Do you know what kind of people serve in it? Very great people. Many doctors of great name in Bangalore city come here and serve the village people in a spirit of sacrifice. Such a spirit of sacrifice does not arise in everyone; it falls to some fortunate few.

“Not by work, nor by offspring, nor by wealth; by sacrifice alone did some attain immortality.” For doctors to have the good intention of toiling for the welfare of village people is great good fortune. Today in the world many doctors scramble after money. But the doctors working here do not look for money at all; they serve with good will and a kind heart, wishing to rid their patients of illness and give them joy. So one may well say there is no hospital more exemplary than this one. One can put up grand buildings in a hospital's name. We too have built a big Super Speciality Hospital here. But there the medical services are limited to the heart and the brain. This hospital may be small, but in it they treat every kind of disease. And they do it with such great hearts! If you see the patients who come here, you will know for yourselves.

Come one morning and see: those who come here are all poor people. People like these are the very ones we must serve.
