In plain words
Either you, losing all sense of the body, must ask, or I, unable to bear the pressing, must save you. The bond between the two of us must be like this. Long ago the cowherd boys who were with Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa led exemplary lives. Our college students too must give the country such an example. We must honour our parents, love them, serve them. We must take their command upon our heads. This alone is the chief teaching of the culture of Bhārata. “May all the worlds be happy”: this alone is our goal. To think, “I alone must be happy,” is selfishness. We must give up selfishness and keep in view the good of others and the supreme good. We must love even those who revile us. I Myself am the living proof of this. My life is My message. Follow Me. Many obstacles come in the way of good. Only the tree that bears fruit is pelted with stones. Just so, only those who do good meet with hindrances. We must not fear them in the least. The more a diamond is cut, the more its value grows. Just so, adornment rises through blame alone. Taking no notice of blame, we must hold fast to our good.
Students! Recognise the truth that education is for acquiring good qualities, and not merely for acquiring money. It is not enough to increase wealth, strength and friendship. Along with these, we must increase good qualities as well. You must proclaim the greatness of Bhārata to the whole world. The people of all countries will soon attain oneness with Bhārata. Today is Kṛṣṇāṣṭamī, the day God was born. Today I am making you a ‘promise’. All the countries… Pakistan, China, Germany, Russia… all of them together will speak in one way. The goodness of our people of Bhārata is the root cause of this.
