Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

How can a man who cannot recognise even the nature of the person before him understand the divinity that is beyond the human? In God's ‘store’ there are things so precious that they cannot be described. Unable to recognise this truth, you come: “Swami! Give me a locket”, you say. What do you know of how precious the things God wishes to give you are? Unable to recognise that, you ask for trifling things. There is nothing that is not in God's ‘store’; there are things of great value. Perhaps He wishes to give them to you! So you should ask God for nothing. In keeping with the conditions of place and time, and with regard to the time and the occasion, God gives you what you need. Fools who cannot understand the principle of God lose sight of what is real and fall into misfortune.

Educare, spirituality and religion are not separate things. This is a ring, this is a chain, these are earrings.... so you look merely at the forms. If you recognise the truth that what is in all of them is gold alone, why would differences arise for you? In the same way, divinity may appear with many forms and names. But the Prema that is the basis of all forms and names is one. So give Prema and receive Prema. Put aside what is called religion. Religion means to Realize yourself. Since this is possible only through Prema, there is but one religion, and that is the Religion of Love. ‘Educare’ means drawing out what is within. That is, drawing out the Prema that is in you. That very Prema takes shape as Bhakti. Prema is God, God is Prema. If you know this first of all, you need not think any more about Educare or about religion. Then there will be no quarrels at all in this world. Everyone will live in unity and in joy.

Today quarrels begin only because the differences between one person and another have grown. If you want to enjoy happiness without quarrels, you must push differences aside and cultivate the feeling of one Ātma in all. There is but one caste, the human caste; but one religion, the religion of Prema; but one language, the language of the heart. If you recognise this unity, there will be no room at all for quarrels.
