Passage 15

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Little by little the villagers themselves will be drawn to it and will build a school. Each must work according to his strength. Today, in whatever country you look, women are doing much greater work than men in the Bal Vikas programme. While carrying out their family responsibilities at home, they run Bal Vikas whenever they find a little time.

In this Kali age, the good fortune of those who take part in Bal Vikas is good fortune indeed. In this matter women are doing very great work. Men too must come forward. Then the country will prosper greatly. Do not build big buildings and big schools and fall into needless troubles. Let us keep it small. If there is a small house, there will be a small veranda. In that very place gather ten children and tell them good things. “My dears! Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā are the human values. Without them we cannot be human beings”: teach them this well. Starting in this way, you can develop schools later.

Question: What is Swami's resolve for the future of the Sathya Sai schools all over the world?

You need not think about how things will be in the days ahead. Keep doing what you have to do. Do not worry about the future. It is not in your hands. Only the present matters. It is not an ‘ordinary present’, it is ‘omnipresent’! So look after the present carefully. The future will come right by itself. Did you ever think that today you would come to such a high position? So if you keep doing good work in the present, that itself will give you promotion in the future.

Question: Is it compulsory in the Sathya Sai schools to admit children from K.G. onwards?

What I mean is that you may make the effort according to your level. If not from K.G., you may admit them from the third or fourth class. You must make the effort according to your strength and your convenience. There is no compulsion.
