Passage 9

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

We must share that Prema with others. This is what God wants.

God is in every man

The ancient ṛṣis did not think that God is somewhere apart. The Veda said, “Sahasra śīrṣā puruṣaḥ sahasrākṣaḥ sahasra pāt.” That is, it said that God has many thousands of heads. What is its inner meaning? All the heads we see are God's heads. God is in every man, in every heart. So you must not think that God is somewhere apart, in some temple, some mosque or some church. Where man is, there God is. “God in human form.” But, unable to recognise this truth, you go on criticising others. Whom are you reviling? Whom are you worshipping? First enquire into this. Whoever you revile, it is as if you reviled yourselves; whoever you worship, it is as if you worshipped yourselves. Because the God who is worshipped is in you. “Sarvajīva namaskāraṃ keśavaṃ pratigacchati”: whoever you bow to, it is as if you bowed to God.

No more births; this birth is enough

Embodiments of Prema! So many Ugādis have gone by. But evil feelings do not leave man's heart. On the day a man fills his heart with Prema and takes up the path of sacrifice, on that day he has truly celebrated Ugādi. Merely putting on new clothes is not celebrating Ugādi. Today you may put on a new shirt. How long will it stay new, though? By tomorrow it is old. We bought today's “newspaper” and read it. We do not read again a paper we have read, do we! Today's “newspaper” becomes “waste paper” by tomorrow. Our life too is like a “newspaper”. Once this birth came to us, and we have experienced so much.
