In plain words

But later, through political manoeuvres, separate states came into being. But I have no such differences. All are Mine. All are one. One must behave towards everyone with a feeling of harmony. For many years the people of Madras have been struggling with the problem of drinking water. The rich can pay money and buy water. But the poor drink water from filthy pits and fall ill. So, with the intention that they should be given pure water and their health protected, and that they should build on this for generations and be happy, I resolved to provide drinking water to the people of Madras.

In this matter, our Central Trust Secretary Chakravarthi, Srinivasan of Madras (President of the All India Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations), Indulal Shah of Bombay (Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai World Council), the three of them together, went to Delhi and met the officials of the World Bank. They explained to them the service work we do with no expectation of return. The World Bank people were greatly astonished: ‘Service work like this we have never heard of, never seen, in any country,’ they said. Learning that Sathya Sai Baba is giving water to Madras, far away, they agreed that they would give the whole cost of it, and they let us know this very day by phone. You see! Sacred feelings bring nothing but sacred results. “Do not think about money. You need not come back to us. For this project we will give however many crores it takes,” they said. What a great thing it is that such a broad feeling arose in them! These three came back from there at seven o'clock last night. Before even twelve hours had passed since they came, a phone call came from there this morning. You see! If you work with a sacred heart, a sacred result comes at once. I Myself am the living proof of this. Every work I do, I do selflessly. Whatever I do, I do for the good of others. Not recognising this truth, some think I am doing it for some result. There is no result at all that comes to Me from this. There is only one result that comes to Me. What is it? When all are happy, I too am happy.
