Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

If man takes on the form of God, the whole world appears to him as nothing but the form of God. If he turns into a demon, he sees nothing but demonic nature all over the world.

Embodiments of Prema! You must fill your heart with Prema. Satya and Dharma must be reflected in your words and in your deeds. Only then can you attain Śānti. Satya springs from none other than you. How? Your breathing in and breathing out teach you the truth “So'ham” (I am God) 21,600 times a day. If you cannot keep this in mind, what is the use of your studies? However many books you read, however many elders you visit, if you forget the Satya within you, all of it goes to waste.

We must put the senses to good use

First of all you must set right your seeing and your hearing. The Buddha too did just that. He renounced every attachment, visited many elders, listened to their teachings and read many books. But he found no satisfaction. At last he recognised the truth, put all the books aside, turned his vision inward and made his five senses pure. First of all you must put to good use the eyes God has given you. If your sight is pure, your very life becomes pure. Your eye itself is the scripture God has given. You must understand this scripture well. When you restrain your sight, the tongue comes under control of its own accord. When you cultivate right vision, right speech and right hearing, the mind becomes pure. Only he who has a good mind and good conduct is a true man. If you keep the senses under control and put human values into practice, man himself becomes Mādhava.

The young men and women of today are the ones who will uplift the Bhārata of tomorrow. So, first of all, they must nourish steadiness.
