Embodiments of Prema! What man should long for is not happiness, and not sorrow. Man's foremost duty is to recognise the divinity that lies beyond both happiness and sorrow. Neither happiness nor sorrow is a thing man should reach for. When happiness comes, sorrow enters while you are rejoicing. While you are grieving that sorrow has come, happiness enters. In ancient times the great sages attained the state beyond both happiness and sorrow. They recognised the truth that sorrow alone makes the divinity in humanness known. Man must accept happiness and sorrow alike with an even mind.
