In plain words
The Atomic Process is very sacred. Through this itself it becomes possible to recognise divinity. But man ignores it and leads a physical, worldly life.
The lesson Aśoka taught his minister
Once, as Emperor Aśoka was taking a stroll in the forest with his minister, a Buddhist monk met them on the way. At once Aśoka took off his crown, laid his head at the feet of that great soul and bowed down. The minister did not like that at all. He felt that it was not fitting for so exalted a person as Aśoka to put his head on the feet of a common Buddhist monk, and that Aśoka's conduct in this was such as to dishonour an emperor's standing. Aśoka saw what the minister felt, and resolved to wait for a fitting time and teach him a lesson. Some time later he called the minister one day and asked him to bring him three things: a goat's head, a sheep's head and a man's head. Somehow the minister got hold of the goat's head and the sheep's head; then he went to the cremation ground, cut off the head of a corpse and took them to the king. “I have brought them, Mahārāja!” he said. “Take them to the market and sell them!” said Aśoka. In the market the goat's head and the sheep's head were sold in a moment. But however long he waited, nobody came forward to buy the man's head. When the minister came back and reported this, Aśoka said, “Never mind, give it away to anyone for nothing.” But however hard he tried, no one would agree to take the man's head even for nothing. Then Aśoka: “Minister! That day, when I laid my head at the feet of a Buddhist monk, you were deeply pained. But now you have seen for yourself, have you not! Once life has gone, no one gives any value to this head. That is why I laid my head at the feet of that Buddhist monk and made this birth of mine worthwhile,” he told him.
