In plain words
Seeing these clouds that come and go, you must not worry at all. What is the shape of worry? It is mentally created fear. Hardships and losses keep befalling every human being. We must face them bravely.
Embodiments of Prema! Remember what Aśoka taught his minister. Only as long as there is life does the body have honour. The moment life goes, it has no value at all. Duryodhana too spoke of this very thing in his last moments: “As long as there was life, everyone honoured me. Tomorrow, the moment I leave this body, dogs and crows will sit on it and tear it apart and eat it.” What has to happen will happen. As long as there is life, one must keep one's honour. One must foster divine feelings. Only then will you be those who have lived a divine life. Today you are living only a worldly life. Worldly life is indeed necessary. But recognise that within worldly life itself lies the principle of the Ātma, which is beyond the world. From this Guru Pūrṇimā at least, keep your heart pure. When we are sitting somewhere, now and then mosquitoes come and bite. We swat them, don't we! In the same way, we must push away the hardships and losses that trouble us. Without sinking in sorrow or swelling with happiness, we must try with an even mind to attain divinity.
(After Swami sang the song “Vahe Guru Vahe Guru Vahe Guruji Bolo...”, He went on with His divine discourse, saying this:)
Hold the thought: “I am Brahman”
The guru is one! There are not two, an inner guru and an outer guru. He who teaches the word of truth from your heart is the guru.
