In plain words
Later, while you were walking on the road, you slipped and fell down. The leg broke. What do you say then? You say, “My leg is broken.” Yesterday, in the delusion that the body is 'I', you said, “I came.” Today, when your leg breaks, you say, “My leg is broken.” When you say “my leg”, the leg must be something apart from you, mustn't it! So you are not the body. 'I' is something apart from the body. It is eternal and true. It is present equally in every person. This itself is the divinity in everyone. 'I' itself is man's true nature. Where 'I' is, God is. Each one must develop such faith. You say, “My body, my mind, my leg, my hand.” But if you ask yourself, “Who am I?”, it becomes clear that none of these is you. These belong only to the outer shape; they have nothing to do with Ānanda. The principle of the Ātma alone has to do with Ānanda. That itself is 'Aham'.
The principle of Prema in every human being is 'I'
Embodiments of Prema! Judged by wealth there may be differences, ‘this one is a millionaire, that one is poor’, but judged by the principle of the Ātma, the 'I', all are equal. The principle of Prema that shines in every person is itself 'I'. There is no human being at all without Prema. Bulbs light up only when there is current. In the same way, only because the current called 'I' is in the body do the eyes see, the ears hear and the mouth manage to speak. Yet the eyes themselves do not see. Through the eyes, 'I' sees. The light in the eyes is divinity itself. If you turn on the switch in one room, only the bulb in that room lights up. But for the whole house to get light, you must turn on the main switch. For all the limbs of the body, 'I' is like the main switch. That itself is the form of the Ātma. That itself is the form of Satya. Satya is God. Prema is God. If you recognise this truth, you need do no more sādhanas at all.
