In plain words
“Sir! There are ghosts living in that house,” they said. Then the officer: “Why is everyone saying the same thing? Is there an evil spirit living in that house? We shall see,” he decided within himself. He put out the light, switched on a small bedlight, crossed one leg over the other and, swinging it, stayed there pondering something. The shadow of his leg appeared on the wall. There too something seemed to be moving. Then this ignorant man: “There it comes, the ghost! I must catch it and strike it!” and he took the pistol beside him and fired. In his haste he hurt his own toe. In this way man sees his own shadow, deludes himself and falls prey to every kind of suffering. All are embodiments of God! “Truth is one; the wise speak of it in many ways”: we must believe in such oneness. We must attain such divinity. We must attain the divinity that is in the many. Only then will our pains, sorrows and delusions vanish. From birth we have wandered in this world, taken up all the delusions in it, and so kept increasing these delusions. Whoever you see and grieve over, that too is yours alone. Whoever you see and rejoice at, that is yours alone. Sorrow or joy, neither belongs to another. So keep reducing, little by little, the delusions tied to the body! Forget attachment to the body! Foster attachment to the Ātma. Only then will a divine feeling enter you.
Embodiments of Prema! In every human being there dwells Prema alone, eternal and true. Hold on to that Prema firmly. That Prema alone gives you Śānti. That Prema alone brings you courage. So if you earn Prema alone, that is enough. That Prema itself is God. God Himself is Prema. Dwell in that Prema alone. Spend your whole life in Prema alone. This principle of Prema is right within you.
The divinity in all forms is one and the same
Embodiments of Prema! We see many forms in nature. Whatever form you look at, one form stands unconnected with another.
