In plain words
Every action must be done with purity of mind
Our ancients would not waste even a single moment. Holding Time itself to be the form of God, they put time to good use. You pray to God, “Kālāya namaḥ, Kālakālāya namaḥ, Kālātītāya namaḥ, Kālasvarūpāya namaḥ”, do you not? Then why do you forget the truth that Time is the form of God? When Sunday comes, many rejoice, ‘Ah, today we can take it easy!’ But truly this is nothing to rejoice over. ‘Chī! When Sunday comes I am left with no work! So much time is going to waste!’ you must grieve. You must use time in the right way. If you have no work, you must enter the service of society. You must strive to help others. We must sacrifice our all to protect the country. This is the dedication to action the people of Bhārata must learn. The Bhagavad Gītā taught, “Your right is to action alone, never to its fruits.” You must make your action fruitful. Every action must be done with purity of mind. All actions done without purity of mind come to nothing. However small the act done with a pure feeling, that very act yields a great fruit. Every act done with a pure feeling becomes worship of God itself. For the doing of action God gave man a body. The culture of Bhārata teaches that man's chief Dharma is to bring time, action and cause into harmony and carry out his duty.
From time without beginning, our culture of Bhārata itself has been the protector of Bhārata. Today everyone has forgotten so sacred a culture. They think culture means a Way of life. But it is not a Way of life. Culture sets forth the ideal for life and for the nation. However much one teaches about this culture, today there is no one to listen. Even if a few listen, among them there is no one to practise it. There are many, too, who long to practise it but lack the right conditions.
