In plain words

There, whatever work one does, there is no one to see, is there! So, after going there, if they have no money, many wash plates in hotels to earn money. Instead of going abroad and washing plates, why should you not stay in your own country and do your own housework? We must sweep our house ourselves. We must help father and mother. The mother, in a state where she cannot even bend at the waist, tries with great difficulty to sweep the house. At such a time, ‘Mother! You sit down. I will sweep,’ — if you say this, what joy it gives her! At home you must give your parents joy, and at school you must behave towards the teachers with humility and obedience.

Students! Recognise the truth that humility is the very ornament of education. Only then will you take shape as ideal students and be able to do the country great good. Wherever violent acts take place, do not enter into them. If you go there, you too will be hurt. If you can, try to stop the violence. Make a fitting effort to foster peace, giving no room to riots and disturbance. You are very intelligent indeed! But along with intelligence you must also develop the wealth of character. You are trying to increase these three: friendship, strength and wealth. But if there is no virtue, all this is useless, is it not! You must develop virtue too, take shape as ideal students, teach “Sathya Sai Educare” well to the world, and win good fame.
