In plain words
“Then stay right here,” I said, and gave him a job with a good salary. I do not have work done without paying salaries. I do not ask anyone for a naya paisa. The money needed for the good works I do comes of its own accord. So many lakhs of people come here. There are many, too, who have been coming here for 30 or 40 years. But have I ever asked anyone for even a single paisa? I have never asked. I will not ask. I will not give up My vow. This will only grow further, step by step; it will not decline. If one has such exemplary children, what greater joy can there be? All My property is the children. What I want is only that they do well and win a good name. That itself is My joy.
Students! This is the day you receive your degree. The University is giving you a degree in education; I am giving you a degree in ‘Educare’. ‘Educare’ has to do with the Ānanda of the Ātma. Whatever you may come to need, I will see to it. You must not be idlers; you must do your own work. Laziness is rust and dust. Realisation is best and rest. Make yourselves ready to attain that ‘realisation’.
Abdul Kalam, a model to follow
It gives Me great joy that Abdul Kalam came today and took part in our convocation. He has boundless love of country. Without showing the least difference he loves everyone and draws everyone close. He did not go to other countries to earn money; he did not study in other countries; he stayed in Bhārata and achieved great distinction. So great a scientist is nowhere to be seen. These days there are a great many scientists. But what use is it? ‘Twinkle twinkle little star! How I wonder what you are’, as it is said, all are drawn to foreign lands and are leaving Bhārata. But Abdul Kalam is not like that. There is no Ahaṅkāra in him at all.
