In plain words

Embodiments of Prema! For the people of Kerala this is a most joyful festival day. Today in Kerala the farmers cut the harvest, bring it home and keep the festival with joy. The farmers are the ones who give the people their food and bring the country peace and prosperity. From the time they rise at dawn until they lie down at night they toil in the fields, and so they do the country great good. That they are granted the good fortune of such joyful service may truly be called their blessing. Only when the farmers are joyful can all people receive joy and peace. From ancient times Bhārata has borne hardships of many kinds, given spiritual wealth to every country and brought them happiness and peace. From those days to these, ‘May all the worlds be happy’ has been the chief aim of the people of Bhārata.

‘Sarvaṃ khalvidaṃ brahma’: this whole world is Brahman through and through! So human life must be filled with Dharma. Only then does a birth find its fulfilment. ‘Karmānubandhīni manuṣyaloke’: man is one bound by karma. Man's chief duty is precisely this: from the time he rises at dawn, to work for the good of society without wasting his time. He must hold firm that the welfare of society is his own welfare. I have seen it: the people of Kerala work very hard. They take part in service to society. They work for peace and security. Kerala is a home of places of learning. Kerala has given proof of the Vedas, the śāstras, the itihāsas and the Purāṇas. Yet in so sacred a land the people today are unable to find peace and joy. But the right time for it will come. For everything, time itself is the chief thing; time itself is the measure. So we must make our time fruitful.
