In plain words
We must carry out properly the duties God has laid down.
‘Kaṣṭe phalī’
All the actions we do outwardly are nothing but reflections of what we hold within! If we are to experience joy outwardly and inwardly, we must do good actions. No human being can simply sit idle without doing actions.
In karma a creature is born; in karma it grows, and in karma it passes away; karma is God to man; karma is the cause of joy and sorrow in this world.
The body came into being for the very purpose of doing actions. Human life is bound up with time, action, cause and duty. But under the sway of the Kali age, man today does not bend his back and work. Laziness has grown among the educated and the uneducated alike. Every one must work hard. We must make life blessed by meritorious deeds. To grow lazy without doing one's work may truly be called a misfortune. Students today hope to pass their examinations without working hard, and to get a job without working hard. Once they have joined a job, they want their salaries raised without any labour. This is not what a human being should want. ‘Kaṣṭe phalī.’ Only when you work hard does the right result come to you. But today no one is ready to work hard or to do sacred actions. They go to the office; they mark their attendance and come back. What are they doing in the office? Are they carrying out their duty properly? On this, each one must examine himself. Self-examination is essential for every human being.
