Passage 9

In plain words

Not like that: you must be ready for anything. Once anyone has taken on a body, hardships cannot be escaped. You must not mind them. You must hold faith in God firmly. You must regard faith itself as your breath.

I must tell you one more thing. Geeta Reddy is a person in a high position. However many important tasks she had, she set them all aside and, with the longing ‘Swami must be well, I must see to Swami's welfare’, for a whole month, not counting even the money, she kept flying from Hyderabad to Bangalore and back. For ten, fifteen days she stayed at Brindavan itself. But they let no one inside to see Swami. I did not speak with her either. She stayed outside and kept getting news of Swami's welfare. For that whole month she forgot Hyderabad completely. She has served as a minister in the past; today she is president of the state women's wing of the Congress. But, ‘I need none of this. I want Swami. Swami must be well,’ and so she stayed lost in thought of Swami without a break. She kept grieving greatly in her mind about Swami's health. Truly, there are very many who grieved for Swami with such Prema. Though there were troubles in their homes, they paid them no mind and cared for Swami as their very life. That is true Bhakti. The Bhakti and surrender of all of them alone helped Swami recover quickly. Develop such Bhakti and surrender. Through it, any pains whatever will surely be removed.

Another small matter. A cancer patient from America came to Bangalore with her husband. She had cancer near the heart. When the doctors said it was cancer, she was terribly frightened. I to her: ‘Do not be afraid of the cancer. I will cancel it,’ I told her, and did just that, and by the time I had her given a week's treatment, it was all healed. Only a little remained at the top, and I told the doctors to remove it. On the very day I came here from Bangalore, she had the operation.
