Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

You must lead your senses onto the right path. You must not believe what others say and go astray. You need not read all sorts of books. All the books are right within you. First of all, master your eyes, your ears and your tongue. That itself is the Bhāgavatam. Through this very Bhāgavatam you will fare well. Only then will you become great in virtue, strong, and gurus to everyone. “Hanumān is serene, virtuous and strong,” they said. You too must earn such a great name.

Students! Your parents hope that you will earn plenty of money. “Mother! For us what matters is not pay but life. We must not ruin our life for the sake of pay,” you must gently persuade them. You are like gold, very precious. But some are trying to lead you astray. Do not believe the words of others and go astray. You will do well. The world will praise you. Nurture good qualities. This, and nothing else, is what I wish to tell you today about education! Earning good qualities is far more important than earning wealth. So develop good qualities. My golden ones! To those who develop good qualities and to those who teach good qualities, I will give anything. I will give even My life. I live only for such people. I expect nothing from you.
