Passage 8

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

To become one with God, singing alone is what matters most. This is the true meaning of the name ‘Lover of song’. The deeds, miracles and līlās seen in the Kṛṣṇa Avatāra were not seen in any other Avatāra. When you want to gain such Ānanda, sing God's praise to some tune or other and make the melody of your heart one with it. When that very melody slips away from you, it turns into a malady. It is enough even to sing the one Name, “Kṛṣṇa!” Attain God through singing of that kind.

Students! You do bhajan every day. Everyone takes part in the bhajan. But each one's singing goes off in a different tune. If you truly become one in that tune, God will merge into your heart. So, if you want God to merge into your heart, you can take up some tune you know and sing. There is nothing that surpasses song. “In Nanda's house.. Gopāla, they say.. appeared in the lamp, they say..” What joy this song gives! So sing God's glory with feeling, melody and rhythm, in a way that makes your heart swell. However many bhajans you sing, however many songs, only when you bring soft, sweet feeling into it does it give so much joy.
