Today your condition too is just the same. You have come and fallen into the river called the world. “Why have we come and fallen into it? What must we come to know? Where must we go? Knowing what, where shall we arrive?” These things you are not finding out. Only when you know these three, the “from address” of where we came from, the “to address” of where we are going and the “present address” of where we are, does your birth find its fulfilment.

Goldstein (chairman of the Prasanthi Council) and his wife came to Puttaparthi many times. One morning, as I was going to the college, he came with Me in the car. While we sat in the car, I asked Goldstein, “What is your programme?” “Swami! I must set out and leave today,” he said. “Give up the journey today,” I told him. “Swami! I will go today and wait a day in Bombay for the plane,” he said. “None of that need concern you. When I say do not go, do not go. Never mind if the ticket goes to waste. Do not go,” I told him firmly. But he pleaded, “I simply must go.” “As you wish,” I said. If he did not go, the ticket would go to waste. But he did not realise that if he travelled that day, his very life would go to waste. All right! “Go,” I told him.
Going home and packing their luggage, husband and wife went by car to Bangalore. There they boarded a plane and landed in Bombay. From there they set off for America in another plane. After the plane took off, it came to light that there were hijackers on board. Two hijackers stood near the door. Two more were moving up and down with guns. In the plane all was in great turmoil. Then Goldstein understood why Swami had said to him that day, “Do not travel”! Come what may, they thought, Swami alone was their refuge; and laying their burden on Swami, they sat. His wife was a great devotee. She kept on remembering, ‘Sairam! Sairam! Sairam!’
Some time later the hijackers began firing in the plane. The passengers were seized with terror.
