In plain words

Students! Many people eat meat thinking there is some great strength in it. But in truth it is not strength; it is weakness! Once one has eaten such food and ruined one's stomach, the illness is not cured however many medicines one takes. When our children went to Delhi, in answer to the question the teachers there asked about their food habits: “Sir! Meat spoils one's health. So we do not need it,” they said. Spurred on by these children, many students in the hostel there gave up meat. When we eat pure food, a pure mind is formed. Only when a pure mind is formed do pure thoughts and feelings arise. Only then do we enter upon pure actions. Only then are we shaped into noble human beings. Even Churchill gave up meat in the end. Many great people like him saw the evil effect of meat and stopped eating it. Why feed meat again to this body, which is itself made of blood and flesh? Students! Along with the food you eat, your habits too must be in good order. When you go home from college you play games. Among these games too, there are some bad ones. You must play games that make for health and happiness.

Our children are like gold. There are noble feelings in them beyond description. Even the speech that comes from their mouths is the pure language of the Ātma. Pure thoughts are growing in them. By this they lead a pure life. Students must first of all train themselves in discipline about their food. One must not keep company with those who have bad habits. If you join bad people, you too will turn bad. That is why it has been said, Tell me your company, I shall tell you what you are.
