In plain words
Not only that. Keep your mouth clean too. Through an unclean mouth many diseases take hold. When you are hungry, it is not good to eat whatever comes to hand. For health and Ānanda, God's grace matters most. So pray to God,” I kept teaching them. Ānanda comes only through thought of God; it cannot be had from anything else. It is not something earned from outside; it springs from the heart itself. To enjoy Ānanda and health, we must make our time fruitful through thought of God and make the heart pure. We must not imitate anyone. We must trust the truth that springs from our heart. It is not good for those of one caste to hate another caste, or those of one religion to hate another religion. Each one must follow his own religion. In whatever form it may be, we must pray to God and become pure through God's grace. God surely listens to a prayer made with a pure mind, and grants His grace.
He alone who has good feelings is a youth
When we fill ourselves with sacred feelings, we gain nothing but good results. For good feelings to form, we must cultivate good habits. Today the country needs young people of just this kind. Who are the young? You think the young are those who have reached eighteen or twenty years. No, no. He alone who has good feelings deserves the word ‘youth’. On rising at daybreak, the very first thing, we must remember the Name of God, saying, ‘Rāma, Kṛṣṇa, Govinda...’ Before lying down at night, too, we must remember the Name of God. If we remember the Name of God, the feelings that arise in us will all be feelings of God. But today we have entirely forgotten to think of God. We fancy we are pursuing some great studies. But these studies are not turning us onto the right path. Education that does not foster Viveka and enquiry in us leads to Agitation.
