In plain words
If there were no divinity in us at all, we could not exist in this world. Only through faith in God are we able to live in this world to this day.
In a certain village there lived a husband and wife. The wife was always remembering the Name of God and doing pūjās. But the husband, for his part, neither remembered the Name nor did pūjās; he just went about his own work. “Alas, my husband does not utter ‘Rāma, Kṛṣṇa’ even on a single day!” the wife would grieve. One night, unable to sleep and tossing this way and that, he said, ‘Rāma’. Hearing that word come from her husband's mouth, the wife was overjoyed. As soon as she rose at dawn, she cooked all the rice in the house and fed the poor. Seeing this, the husband: “What is all this? You have cooked all the rice in the house and are giving it to the poor. What is special about today?” he asked. “Last night I heard the word ‘Rāma’ from your lips. Hearing it, my heart overflowed,” she said. “Alas, all this time I kept Rāma safely hidden in my heart. Has my Rāma gone out of me!” he grieved deeply. Many people do not show their Bhakti and surrender outwardly; they keep them hidden in the heart itself. But some day or other it comes out.
Embodiments of Prema! Remember the Name of God. You may remember whichever Name you like. Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa's mother gave her son good teaching and was able to make him a great yogi. All mothers must take her as their ideal and strive to set their own children on the good path. If you keep remembering the Name of God, that itself will purify the feelings within you. Never forget the Name of God. If you go on remembering the Name of God, your life will surely be blessed.
