In plain words
Rāyalu asked whether anyone had brought an answer to his question. All said it was impossible. Then Rāmakṛṣṇa rose: “Mahārāja! In the sentence ‘Ē āv rā bā vā!’ there are, as you asked, five syllables belonging to five languages. In each of those languages they give the same meaning,” he said. Whether in Marathi one says ‘ē’, in Hindi ‘āv’, in Telugu ‘rā’, in Kannada ‘bā’ or in Tamil ‘vā’, the meaning is one and the same.
The joy of all of you is Brahmānanda to Me
Students! Each word has many meanings. So when you speak with others, you must use words with great care. You are studying; you are taking high degrees. But you must learn these little things too. Only when you learn the little things well will you be able to achieve the big ones too. All of you, with good qualities, a good mind and good conduct, stand as ideals for society. Only when all of you lead an ideal life is Swami happy. Those who give joy to Swami, to them I too give joy. The joy of all of you is Brahmānanda to Me. Wherever you go, you must earn a good name. Your conduct is what matters to Me. So shape your conduct well. This is the great message I give you on this Śivarātri. The day all of you experience joy is My Śivarātri.
