Passage 5

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Just as cotton is the root basis of cloth, so God is the root basis of all creation. Wherever you look in this world, what is there is God alone.

The prayers of all reach the one God alone

Embodiments of Prema! All of you are truly embodiments of Prema. All of you are truly embodiments of God. To see God you need not go anywhere. When you close your eyes and inquire with inner vision, God will appear right within you. Longing to see God, many people do many kinds of sādhana. The goal of all sādhanas is one. As all rivers become one with the ocean, the prayers of all reach the one God alone. Do not think of yourselves as ordinary human beings. You are embodiments of Prema. If you ask anyone, ‘What is your name?’, they will say ‘Rāmayya’ or else ‘Lakṣmamma’. But they were not born with those names. Those are names their parents gave them. All these names keep undergoing change. The name that does not change is one alone, and that very name is ‘I’. When anyone asks you, ‘Who are you?’, you must be able to answer, ‘I am I.’ Apart from this you have no other name or form. You must develop this feeling of the one Ātma. This body is not you; the name given to it is not yours. Your real name is ‘I’. This itself is Satya. This alone is what stays with you always. As long as you wear a body, people may call you by the name given to your body. But when the body is gone, what becomes of that name? That is why I keep saying, ‘You are not one person; there are three in you. 1. the you that you think you are, 2. the you that others think you are, 3. the real you.’

What is between us is a bond of Prema

Embodiments of Prema! All of you are embodiments of Prema, embodiments of Satya. So you yourselves are embodiments of God. Never forget Prema. Do not be sad that Swami has not spoken with you these past three days.
