In plain words
They talk about ‘science and technology’. But there is no technology at all; it is all trick knowledge! What they speak of is technology; what they practise is ‘trick’nology! Doing injustice to others, cheating others ... the Indians have sunk into this kind of ‘business’. Born in sacred India, we must not enter into such wickedness. We must fill our hearts with the feeling of God. We must do all our actions for the pleasure of God, with prayer to God. Only then will divine, glorious Ānanda come to us. But today, whatever work people do, they do it out of desire for their own gain. You go to a learned musician: ‘Sir! A pūjā is being held in our house. Will you come and sing the maṅgaḷahārati song?’ If you ask him this, he asks, ‘How much will you give?’ Today people make a trade even of food and drink. Our sacred India won renown as ‘the land of Annapūrṇā’. To feed whoever asks without saying no, to quench the thirst of the thirsty: this is the tradition of Indians. Forgetting so sacred a tradition and falling for the craze of foreign ‘fashions’, people are ruining the very name of Indian culture. Indian culture is very great. India is far more sacred than all other countries. You who were born in India must live as Indians.
Satya and Dharma alone are our true wealth
What a great devotee Satī Sakkubāyi was! She sacrificed her all for God. In this land of India, which gave birth to such embodiments of sacrifice, today we want to enjoy pleasures. That is why the nation is falling into so many troubles. We do not need pleasure; sacrifice is what we need most urgently. Today even elders are urging their children to go abroad. As for the rich, that need not even be said; they send their children abroad while they are still small. The root cause of all this wickedness is nothing but excess money! Money makes many wrongs.
