In plain words
See whether in any other country there is a wife who made her dead husband live again. Sītā did not look at Rāvaṇa's face even for a moment; she never once lifted the head she kept bowed down. This is the land of merit where such mothers devoted to their husbands were born. Even if there are no men who hold such high feelings, in every single woman in Bhārata the feeling of Satya and the lasting Dharma of those mothers devoted to their husbands fill the heart. Even when the husband came, the women of Bhārata would speak from behind a half-open door; they would not come out in front of him and speak. Where else would Śiva be born, if not in such a holy land!
God does not appear before us merely because we perform vows, worship and rites such as yajñas and yāgas. It is through purity of heart alone, through good qualities alone, that we can make God appear before us. All the objects and all the beings in creation have come forth from God, the cause of creation, sustenance and dissolution. Every substance is a gift of God's grace. God is in every object. ‘Īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ’, ‘Īśāvāsyam idaṃ sarvaṃ’. So whatever thing we look at, we must regard it as the very form of Īśvara. (Showing a handkerchief) People say, ‘This is cloth.’ But this is not cloth; it is a joining of threads. And yet it is not even a joining of threads; it is the very form of cotton. From cotton come threads, and from threads cloth is made.
