In plain words

You must foster self-confidence in them. However much they may have, it is of no use to those without self-confidence. Above all, you must foster spiritual thought in the children. The spiritual means the thought of God. Only when you develop the thought of God in the children's hearts will their feelings flow pure, steady and selfless. Today, wherever you look in the world, everyone is scrambling after money alone. What is money doing for us? Is it wiping the tears from our eyes at all? No. There is no happiness whatever that comes from money. Only through Dharma, through sacrifice, through Prema does all happiness come to us. Where did Dharma come from? ‘There is no Dharma higher than Satya.’ Without Satya there is no Dharma. So we must lead our life taking Satya and Dharma as its foundation. What were we born into this world for? Not merely to eat, to roam about and to sleep. ‘Mamaivāṃśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtas sanātanaḥ’: ‘My very own part is present in all of you,’ said Kṛṣṇa. So all of you are the very forms of God! Of the very nature of Prema! Having taken such a sacred human birth, you must live your life with sacred feelings and sacred deeds. Only then will the country prosper. Without purity of heart, however many yajñas, however many yāgas, however many tapas you perform, all of them go to waste like rose-water poured on ashes. Children's hearts are very clear and pure. Sow the seeds of Prema in such hearts. They will grow into great trees and give you the sweet fruits called Dharma and Śānti. If the children are to reach a high state, if their future is to be shaped well, you must teach them good sense. When you teach them the human values called Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā, the children will grow sensible and be able to set the country right. Not just the country: they can set right the entire world. You must not teach children harsh words in the least. You must teach them gentle feelings and soft, sweet words. You must give them a life full of Prema.
