Passage 1

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Today's studies serve only to fill the belly; they cannot teach the learning of Dharma and of right living. What fruit is there in learning such studies? Listen, O heroic son of Bhārata!

It is a great joy that so many teachers have come today from Śrīkākuḷam. Śrīkākuḷam means a family joined with ‘Śrī’. Just as Śrī Rāma, Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Śrī Rāmakṛṣṇa Paramahaṃsa have the letter ‘Śrī’ before them, your district too has the letter Śrī before it. Those who have come from Śrīkākuḷam are great devotees. Not only now: from the very beginning they have been supreme devotees! Whatever word they hear, whatever they utter, whatever thought they think, all of them are experiencing the very principle of God and delighting in it.

The progress of the country rests precisely on the conduct of its children. If the country is to flourish in prosperity, the children's feelings and actions must be very gentle and pure. You, the teachers who form such children, are very fortunate. Only through exemplary teachers does the country go forward. Only when the teachers are what they should be do the children come to the right state. When teachers speak pure words with a pure feeling, pure, gentle and noble feelings enter the children too.

All happiness comes only through Prema and sacrifice

Embodiments of Prema! What you must teach the children is not merely worldly, physical learning; along with it you must also teach them moral, dhārmic and spiritual matters.
