In plain words
On top of that, you have to pay fees month after month. Where can poor people bring so much money from? ‘The money we have is not ours. It is a boon of God’s grace’: with this sacred feeling we must use that money for the welfare of the people.
Alexander, conquering country after country, crossed the river Sindhu and came meaning to fall upon the land of the Hindus. But his health declined. The doctors came and examined him. “The condition is very grave. Life will last only a little while longer,” they said. Then Alexander had his ministers called. “When my life is gone, take this body to our country, wrap it in a white cloth, leaving only the hands out on top, and carry it in procession through every street. The people may ask you, ‘Why do you dishonour the emperor so?’ Tell them, ‘This is no dishonour; the emperor himself asked for it to be done this way, to proclaim a great message to the world,’” he said. What was that message? His intention was to proclaim to the world: “However many countries Alexander conquered, however much wealth he amassed, however large an army stood around him, when at the very last he went, he went with empty hands.”
Build schools and hospitals in the villages
However much we earn, for whom are we to put it away? All the wealth you have carefully put by, your children may squander. So, while you are still alive, put the wealth you have earned to good use. I do not keep a single pie for Myself. If anyone sends money, I send it straight to the bank. That very money I am spending in this way on drinking water schemes. Because I keep on doing good works in this way, more and more money keeps coming to the bank. What is it kept in the bank for? To be spent in the right way. In many villages little children have to walk many miles to school. Set up schools in those villages and help those children.
