In plain words
Though the body has grown frail, man's cravings still do not come to an end. First of all we must rein in desires. Only then can man live as man. The qualities that ought to be in man are not seen today. Do they speak the truth at all? No. They open their mouths, and out comes nothing but a lie! In every action he takes to adharma. Then how is Śānti to be had? Is Śānti to be found anywhere in the world, in shops? No, no! Śānti is not something to be had outside. The day you rein in desires, that day Śānti will spring forth from you yourself. Only then will true Prema begin in you. Even now Prema is in you. Prema is not something that ever dies. No death for love! Prema is in every person. But they use this Prema artificially.
Embodiments of Prema! All of you must hold to Prema alone, choose Prema alone, experience Prema alone, and rejoice. Only the one in whose heart Prema springs up is a true man. Today everyone appears to be living with Prema. But in practice they do not experience Prema. If you have ten rupees, keep with you what you need; use what remains for the good of others. In God's property everyone has an equal share. If we do not use this share in the right way, our selfishness will kill us.
Pray not for selfish ends but for the welfare of the world
Does the water in the clouds reach our mouths? It does not. Only when it falls as rain can we catch that water and drink it. When we want the water in those clouds, we must offer the prayer fit for it. Only when Varuṇa's grace comes do we get water. God did not bestow water merely for our selfish ends; it is for the welfare of the world. We must seek the peace of the world. You must not pray selfishly that peace should come only to you, to your family and to your relatives. It is not enough that you and your family alone live in peace; the whole world must have peace.
