In plain words
Embodiments of Prema! Young women and young men!
Today it is most urgent that we recognise human values. Because human values have become empty in man, he is unable to live as a man. The qualities in man are of two kinds: those that face outward and those that face inward. Desire, anger, greed, delusion, pride and envy: these face outward; Satya, Dharma, Śānti, Prema and Ahiṃsā face inward. Today we have cast off the inward feelings, true and eternal, and are hanging on to outward things that do not last. We must develop the inward feeling of the Ātma. Satya alone is enough; Dharma will come of its own accord. When Satya and Dharma come together, like negative and positive, Śānti comes to us. When Śānti comes, Prema springs up in us. When Prema springs up in us, there is no such thing as violence. Today, wherever you look in the world, violence! Wherever you look, suffering! Wherever you look, hardship! So you must make an effort to develop the inward human values. ‘Satyaṃ brūyāt priyaṃ brūyāt na brūyāt satyam apriyaṃ’ (Speak the truth. Speak pleasantly. Do not speak a truth that is unpleasant). Satya is eternal. It is not born of anyone, and it does not die with anyone. Satya is not one way for these people and another way for those. Satya is one and the same for all. Only when you nourish Satya can you walk the path of Dharma. What you think in your heart, you must say with your mouth. What you say with your mouth, you must prove in action. This is true humanness. “Ekaṃ sat viprāḥ bahudhā vadanti.” What exists is one; there is no second at all.
