In plain words

If our mind is good, no beast, however fierce, will do anything to us. They come at us only when we do something to them; when we do not touch them at all and look on them with Prema, they too look on us with Prema. ‘As is the feeling, so it becomes.’ It is according to our feelings that they show us either enmity or trust. As we went along looking at everything, at one place fifteen lions were lying down. Some were suckling their young; some had killed some animal, brought it and were eating it. I told those who had come with me, “If we do nothing to them, they will do nothing to us either.” I took a camera from someone, went up close to them and took photographs. They all looked at me and were very happy. They lay there, content and at ease. You see! They did nothing to us. When you go with the evil intent to kill them or beat them, they too come at you to kill you. So we must not go with such a bad feeling. We must not look on even a single living being with a bad feeling.

Until I came back from East Africa, Easwaramma brooded day after day, brooding and brooding, not even eating properly, and grew very weak. From Kampala I had a telephone call made every day, morning and evening: “I am well, I am well.” Hearing that, she began to feel a little happier. As soon as I came back from Kampala, she came to the car full of joy and put a garland of flowers on me. “Swami! You have come back so happy and so well!” she said, and took me inside, waved a coconut round me and warded off the evil eye. “Swami, I never imagined that your tour would go so grandly,” she said. After she came to Puttaparthi, she shared her joy with all the people of the village. Wherever Swami went, she longed to be with Him too. All that she saw, she would come to Puttaparthi and tell everyone. She held up an ideal for them. She asked that Swami should not leave Puttaparthi. “Swami, a tree must grow where it sprang up; if you keep pulling it up and planting it in one place after another, it will be ruined.
