In plain words
It is not one he brought with him. It is not what was born. What was born to the parents is only the body. The body is negative. To use the negative, they put the name as a ‘positive’ mark. When you call him by the name ‘Giri’, Giri comes. But it is not possible to call everyone ‘Giri’. While bodies are different, the sameness of every kind, the principle of the Ātma, is one. So, when anyone is asked their name, they say, ‘I am so-and-so.’ That is not so. If anyone asks your name: I am I. Because ‘I’ is not the body's name. God taught Naciketas this very thing. Whomever you call, and in whatever way, the one present in all is He Himself. Īśāvāsyam idaṃ sarvaṃ. Īśvaras sarvabhūtānāṃ. What name can anyone give to the principle of God present in all beings? In the world they give names for the sake of identification.
We cannot write correctly even the learning we have learnt. What is learnt is artificial. Some people speak English with a good pronounciation. Who can tell correct pronounciation. Those who have learnt a few things can tell it, but correct pronounciation comes from God. That alone is the Ātma. If asked who you are, you say, ‘The Ātma.’
Students! However many physical studies you learn, however many Ph.D.s you do, you must not forget your true name. Taking that as the basis, all these Ph.D.s come. Without the support of this ‘Educare’ within, you cannot gain anything. This itself is the basis. Leaving this, you must not take what is worldly as the basis in the least. Whenever you have any doubts, I will teach the meanings. This has many kinds of meanings. Above all, today they use worldly ‘Education’, but nowhere do they proclaim the other-worldly principle of the Ātma. There is no inner knowledge apart. This is not knowledge. inner vision. In this vision all things are revealed. It has no language. Call ‘Rāma’, and He answers, ‘Ō!’ Call ‘Kṛṣṇa’, and He answers, ‘Ō!’ He is ready for everything. Even if you call ‘Madman!’, He answers, ‘Ō!’ Because I am forgetting my true nature. Satya is contained in everything. People give names according to their own liking, but that is not right. So many people are in this hall. What is in everyone is one, only one. all are one be alike to everyone. The principle of the Ātma in everyone is one. It is not possible to leave it and go. So a fitting opportunity is coming to teach the principle of the Ātma. Taking that up, do not keep these worldly studies at a distance in the least. The world wants these worldly studies, but does not want the other-worldly ones.
Students! Many students talk in many ways. They talk about me in many ways. All these are delusions, not truth. You are all none other than God. Mamaivāṃśo jīvaloke jīvabhūtassanātanaḥ. Regard yourselves, all of you, as God. Do not regard yourselves as human beings. Thinking of yourselves as human, you must try to recognise what being human means. One must not waste humanness on eating, drinking and the like. That is mere animality. Humanness is acting with regard to time and occasion. But filling the belly as one likes, with no regard to these two, is mere animality. So we must set apart the three: humanness, divinity and animality. We must not follow animality in the least. Through this we are wasting so much time. A beast wastes so much time. When it is hungry, it goes after what is wrong. If you control hunger, animality goes.
Students! Recognise Satya. Then one will not travel towards untruth. Human birth is very hard to gain. Where is God? God in human form. That itself must stay firm. However many forms one acquires, they are all only costumes. On the stage Nāgayya puts on the costume of Tyāgayya. But Tyāgayya is not Nāgayya, and Nāgayya is not Tyāgayya. Nāgayya is Nāgayya; Tyāgayya is Tyāgayya. Human beings are human beings. Regarding oneself as nothing but divinity, one must forget humanness. One must keep in view what is the basis. That is the Ātma. If you want to attain it, you must attain Satya, Dharma and Prema. With attachment and hatred come desire, anger, pride and envy.
