Passage 3

In plain words

This is svarājya; that is svārājya. What we have won is svarājya, not svārājya. Svārājya means what concerns the Ātma. When we follow the Ātma, then all is well-being; the whole world will be well; it will rise to a higher state. So it is not enough for us to rejoice that svatantrya has come; we must win svātantrya. Subhas Chandra Bose strove hard to win this svātantrya. At the very last he attained it himself, but he could not pass it on to others. Everyone must come to know the true nature of great souls such as this. Among the people of Bhārata, Subhas Chandra Bose is one of the few who won svātantrya. He believed that the whole country is one.

The rich who have no will to give are the poorest of all

The Ātma is one and the same for all. You, I, all of us have the power of the Ātma. That is why Kṛṣṇa too said, “All of you are parts of Me! As I look on all, so you too must look on them.” So, love all, serve all. We must love everyone. We must serve everyone. We must show no distinction such as ‘This fellow is poor, that one is a man of crores’. In Bhārata there are many men worth crores; they eat all the food they want. But if someone comes to their door and asks, ‘Lady, give alms’, there is not one of them who will give a handful of rice. What use is it that such rich men are in the country! They are rich in name only. In truth there is no one poorer than they are. Though there are so many wealthy people, today giving and charity have vanished from the country altogether. We must give in charity. We must look on our fellow men as ourselves; we must look on them as our own people, as our sisters and brothers. Everyone stands on the platform and says ‘brothers and sisters’. But who lives by it? No one is to be seen who truly loves his fellows as ‘brothers and sisters’.
