Passage 4

Tap any word for its meaning.

In plain words

Only a short while! Children and elders alike kept changing these fashions every three days. You all know: first the boys wore bell-bottom pants. They are tight at the top and, if you look below, loose. That fashion ran for a few days. After that, ‘tight pants’ came into use, sticking to the body and looking like pipes. After that, little by little, they recognised ‘None of these is good’ and went on wearing ordinary dress. In this way, out of a craze for fashions, people now and then put on needless get-ups. All these are like clouds drifting past. Man must learn to live as a man.

Today, because many kinds of change have come in the food we eat and the things we use, many diseases are setting in. In the old days they used pots, plates, water-pots and all such things made of clay. But after some time, stainless steel things came into use in their place. Now they are using plastic bags and plastic things. Wherever they are thrown, in whatever ground, these stay just as they are for any number of years. Because of that the land is being ruined. Vegetables grown in such land turn out harmful to man's health.

Progress is possible only through the Sathya Sai system of education

Today the Government is making many changes in the field of education too. The officials may change any number of things. But are they making teachers fit for it? No. When there are no teachers, how will the children learn? First of all, qualified teachers are needed. Many kinds of effort are being made in our University to make such teachers. Only when the teacher is good will the children become good. The good and bad in children rest on the teachers.
