In plain words
Give worry no room at all in the mind
Embodiments of Prema! My body is well. Not only the body; everything of mine is well. My mind never wanders here and there. The body may change. But I am always the same. “Swami! You are always laughing! Has sorrow not come to you?” some people ask. Sorrow has never come near me at all. Whatever has to happen, when it has to, will surely happen. If you merely keep worrying, will it be avoided? It leads to still more worry. So you must not let worry come near you. Once worry enters the mind, it does not go out. So you must not give worry the least room. ‘The examinations are coming. Oh dear, I wonder how I shall write them!’ So students fear. Why fear writing what you know? You will surely write it. You must not fear at all. Even if someone comes with a gun to shoot you, you must not be afraid. They can shoot the body, but can anyone shoot the mind! Can anyone shoot the Buddhi! Can anyone shoot the Ātma!
How far away is the Ātma? It is everywhere. No one can say, ‘The sky is this far away.’ That is why it has been said: sky is blue. How deep is the ocean? No one can tell that either. That is why it has been said: ocean is blue. In the same way, no one can describe the principle of God either. That is why God has been given a ‘blue colour’. Not that God is blue. Had He really been born blue, you would have put Him in some exhibition! No one can make any change at all in divinity. You may change. But your Ātma never changes. “Without attributes, stainless, eternal, the abode, ever pure, awake, free, of spotless form.” That is why it has been said: “grasped by the Buddhi, beyond the senses.” Do not make futile attempts to change such an Ātma principle.
