In plain words

However, since we have taken on a body, we must study this learning to sustain the body; otherwise we have no need of it. We have gathered all of you here to teach the inner learning as well, along with this outer learning. It is very necessary that you learn this learning from people of the finest learning.

Anil Gokak, a son worthy of his father

The first Vice-Chancellor of this University was V.K. Gokak. I knew him well even before our colleges came. He learnt many things from Me. Whenever you saw him, he would be keeping Swami's Name in mind. He and his wife, both of them, trusted Swami with one mind. When I went to their house, they would first of all take Me to the pūjā room. Gokak was a very noble man. His heart was very pure. All the children of today benefit so much from the very work he did. Everything I said, he followed to the letter. He was one who taught the children very good things. If he had even a small doubt, he would come to Me, inquire into it, go back and explain it to the children.

Anil Gokak is a son worthy of his father. He has completed three years as Vice-Chancellor of our University and is retiring today. Outwardly he is leaving it, but in his mind he is always here. Husband and wife are both great devotees. Do not think that today we are sending the two of them away from us. We are not sending them away; nor are they going far away. They are here always. Our University has settled for ever in their heart. Wherever they may go, their feelings will stay right with Swami. Swami too is right with them. So do not think that today we are giving Anil Gokak a ‘send-off’.
