In plain words
The Vedas today have fallen to the lot of disputes; the śāstras, as they call them, have gone stale; the many Purāṇas have grown old; all the śatakas have grown dull and lifeless; the great books have been consigned to the Gaṅgā; the fine moral teachings are eaten by termites; the great gurus have all become a heavy burden; the elders have all become mere blockheads; he who tells lies is today the best of men; he who has wealth, indeed, is the noblest. Ah! What shall I say of the power of the Kali Age!
